MISSION STATEMENT

South Loop Dog PAC works to make the South Loop the most dog-friendly community in Chicago. We do this by promoting responsible dog ownership and by pursuing spaces where people can play with their dogs safely off-leash, without risk of fines or conflict with other park users.

After 5+ years of work by the P.A.C., the South Loop community now has a large, beautiful D.F.A.(dog friendly area) right in Chicago's "front yard". Grant Bark Park opened on July 15, 2006 and is located near the tennis courts off of Columbus Avenue.   Click here to see the location

The area is over 18,000 sq. ft in size, with beautiful trees, planter boxes and lighting. It is fully fenced and double-gated, and contains 2 benches. At the north end is the area of commemorative bricks, along with a person and pooch drinking fountain. Eventually this area will also contain the permanent donor and information board. There is a path to the park from the new 11th street bridge, as well as from Columbus Ave.

The Chicago Park District does not maintain D.F.A.s. It is the financial and logistical responsibility of the South Loop Dog P.A.C. to keep Grant Bark Park clean, and to oversee its use by the community. We also have many improvements that we'd like to see done in the park. With continued financial and volunteer support, we hope to ensure that Grant Bark Park remains Chicago's premier dog friendly area.
